Do I need a commercial driver's license to sign up for the commercial drivers education courses?
No. Anyone can register for our online courses and benefit from the driving education. However, the course is designed for anyone who is a licensed driver that operates commercial motor vehicles.
Are your courses the same as a defensive driving course?
No, Excell PDT offers highly specialized online driving lessons that are focused on teaching drivers best practices for driving safely in adverse winter weather. While defensive driving techniques are incorporated in the training, our courses are not a substitute for a dedicated defensive driving course and will not meet requirements for a driver's license or moving violation.
Do you offer behind the wheel training?
We don't offer traditional behind the wheel training with supervised driving instruction in a motor vehicle. However, Excell PDT can arrange in-person training for groups. Our professional instructors will lead a classroom portion that covers the information that is provided in our courses as well as tailoring the information to the group's specific needs and answering questions to provide additional guidance.
If you are interested in arranging classroom instruction for a group, please contact us for assistance.
Does your professional driving school offer certifications?
We do provide a certificate upon successful completion of a course.
What driving skills are taught in the driver training courses?
That depends on the driving class that is chosen. Our Commercial Motor Vehicles and Passenger Vehicles courses are focused on safe driving in winter weather conditions. The course material is about better managing these driving situations to improve safety, avoid delays and save lives.
We also offer online driving courses that are for other factors that are essential for commercial drivers, such as Load Securing and Over Dimension Transportation Preparation.
How are your courses different from defensive driving training at a local driving school?
With our online structured lessons you can go at your own pace and receive the instruction at home, your office or whatever location is most convenient for you. The course material is also unique from what you will be taught in a defensive driver course at a local driving academy.
Excell PDT offers specialized training that teaches drivers how to handle commercial or passenger vehicles during adverse winter weather conditions involving ice and snow. These are advanced driving skills that go beyond the basics that are taught in a defensive driving class.
Is the passenger vehicle course appropriate for teen aged drivers?
Yes! Even if your teen only has a learner's permit our courses offer great tools that can help them become a safer driver and a more responsible driver. The courses can also help any new driver become a more confident driver in adverse weather conditions.
For parents that have teenage drivers in colder climates, our winter weather course is a must for driving safety. Our professional instructors teach driving techniques that they won't learn in a traditional program for teen drivers.
Is there a driving test at the end of the online courses?
There are quizzes at the end of the modules to reinforce what was learned and ensure that you understand the concepts.
